Here are the top 5 reasons why business owners often shy away from cloud migration
1: Keeping business data on-premise is safer than in the Cloud
It’s becoming increasingly apparent that on-premise systems and data storage are not anymore secure than they would be in the cloud. Many companies with on-premise setups are routinely hacked every day and remain unaware. Did you know that Microsoft is the first major cloud provider to adopt the world’s first international standard for cloud privacy? This new standard establishes a uniform, international approach to protecting privacy for personal data stored in the cloud. It reinforces that clients are always in full control of their data, know what’s happening to it and all data in the cloud has the highest security protection.
2: I have to move everything in my business to the cloud and I’m not ready to do that yet
Early cloud computing adopters proclaimed the cloud as the preferred choice for the elite business setup. However, nobody ever advocated switching your entire business setup over to the Cloud in a few days.
If you are considering moving your business to the cloud, we would encourage you to start with a hybrid approach, moving a single application like email, and growing from there. This approach gives you control to deliver the computing power and capabilities that your business demands, and to scale up or down as needed without wasting time or money on other technology investments. You can make the switch at your own pace and remain fully in control of the migration. Infinity can help you move workloads such as file sync using OneDrive for Business or email using Exchange to start with. For the longer term migration approach our consultants can plan a strategic, phased approach to full migration over the next few months or years, depending on your specific business needs.
3: I’ve always assumed Cloud migration is very complicated and stressful
We understand that it can be very daunting for business owners to start considering how to move their business data to the Cloud. Many SMEs postpone cloud migration and think it’s too much of an upheaval for the business. Infinity Group can help you every step of the way providing IT consultancy on data migration options, reverse proxy requirements, identity options and useful tips on the best firewall configurations for your business.
4: If all our data moves to the cloud, my business will no longer have control over our technology
Moving your business over to the Cloud will dramatically reduce internal stress and time spent maintaining hardware or upgrading software on a regular basis. By doing so you will have more time to spend improving business operations instead of spending large portions of your capital budget on servers for email storage and workloads. Cloud migration actually gives you enhanced control of your business, you can also improve your business efficiency through agile processes setup via bespoke cloud based software development.
5: I’m reluctant to buy Office 365 as I can only use the applications when I’m online
With Office 365 ProPlus or Office 365 Business you have the option to store business data and your files in the Cloud or on your network. However, you can also easily install Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote on your device so these tools are available to use even when you are offline.
