Microsoft Dynamics 2011 migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365

From space missions to large scale deployment of industrial vision systems, they have provided imaging components and embedded systems that help their customers provide world-class solutions.
Active Silicon were running their business using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and were aware of the risks and business restrictions of depending on an on-premise system where mainstream support had terminated.
Active Silicon and the Microsoft Dynamics Consultancy team at Infinity Group identified the added business benefits that could be utilised if they decided to move their on-premise solution into the Cloud and migrate to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
For these reasons, they selected Infinity Group to migrate their existing setup to the Cloud implementing like for like functionality and some additional user training to ensure a smooth transition for all users.
Upgrading any system can be a complex task. Infinity Group started the project with an analysis phase to determine which parts of the system were used and to investigate the extent of the customisations, workflows, plugins and 3rd party tools.
Using our Agile project methodology, we continued this complex Microsoft Dynamics 365 migration project in several phases which included test migration of the customisations and data, user training, functional testing, live migration and on-going support. The migration of the customisations involved upgrading solutions from 2011 on-premise to 2013 on-premise to 2015 on-premise then to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Infinity Group are certified Scribe partners and used Scribe Online to perform the migration of the data from CRM 2011 to Microsoft Dynamics 365. Careful consideration was given to the order in which the objects were migrated and ensuring records were migrated in the correct state.
The entire migration was initially done to a test environment allowing for thorough analysis of the migration of the customisations and data and to ensure all features worked as expected. The live data migration was performed out of hours to ensure there was minimal disruption to the business.
Infinity Group also provided comprehensive user familiarisation training to all users and advanced training for the super users to enable them to utilise all the tools within the new setup and ensure maximum adoption right from go live.
A small team of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 consultants were present at the active Active Silicon offices on the day of go-live to floor-walk and ensure the system was correctly configured and working as expected.
The project was completed over a period of two months. Active Silicon stopped using CRM 2011 on a Friday afternoon and started on the Monday morning using Microsoft Dynamics 365 in the Cloud.
We continue to work with Active Silicon on an on-going basis and provide Microsoft Dynamics 365 support on a retained basis.
